Paddlepop!
Made my way back to the Italian Cultural Institute in ulu Thomson this morning to have a chat with the instructors. I was informed that I had aced the placement test and had not made a single mistake! Now I know for a fact this couldn't be true because I had messed up some of the passato remoto and the "purche', sebbene, perche'" section, but still how could I argue with an Italian teacher, right? So I just stood there, smiled and questioned politely: "Davvero?" ("Really?") The friendly female teacher next told me I already knew all of the grammar that was covered in the advanced level classes, and suggested I sit in one session to see if I get bored out of my mind. So that's what I'm doing this Saturday. Oh, and apparently I've got a "carino" ("charming") French accent when I speak Italian. Those Italian ladies sure know how to butter you up.
Gave my two CDAC kids two cloze passages to do, one on marine life in sea abysses, and another on the exploration of the planet Venus. I must say I quite enjoy teaching cloze passages, going through each answer, offering them (what I hope are) helpful tips, and seeing their faces light up at moments when they get me or when they think of the correct answer after my occasionally convoluted guidance. Treated them to paddlepops and wafer icecream sandwiches after that on account of their general improvement in their CAs.

posative reinforcement is always a good thing I guess =)
